300-Hour RYT Advanced Teacher Training
The It’s Yoga Advanced Teacher Training certification is a 300-hour program that provides continuing education for RYT-200 teachers from any tradition or style. It is preferable, however, that prospective trainees have some experience teaching or practicing a dynamic yoga style. The Advanced program greatly enhances the teaching skills of the basic RYT-200 teacher, while introducing diagnostic yoga therapeutics of traditional Ayurveda and recent advances in anatomical science.
The program includes:
- Advanced yoga asana techniques
- Vinyasa Krama; developing or adapting postures
- Technique & alignment for inversions, backbends, and arm balances
- Biotensigrity & biomechanics of stretching
- Postural diagnostics & alignment therapeutics
- Principles of proprioceptive awareness
- History of traditional yoga & literature
- Swara Yoga; study of pranic control & movement
- Raja Yoga & yoga philosophy
- Ayurveda & yoga therapeutics
- Mano Vaha Srotas; Body Srotas (Anatomy Trains)
- Intro to Sanskrit
Advanced trainees learn how to employ therapeutic techniques to deepen the yoga practice without injury, “work smarter–not harder”. We study modern scientific advances in the study of biotensigrity to examine joint alignment, myofascial engagement and its effect on postural mechanics. Basic knowledge of Samkhya Yoga and Ayurveda gives us a holistic view of disease prevention and proper lifestyle choices as well as a complete understand of subtle anatomy and its relationship to the cosmos. We learn how the mind influences the body structure through the study of the body srota system and to “body read” to identify myofascial imbalances.
During the RYT-300 program trainees can take It’s Yoga’s classes for free. We encourage teacher trainees to experience various teaching styles because today’s teacher must be versatile and ready to teach to the needs of her students, not be confined to just one style. The Advanced Teacher Training Workbook covers all topics listed, while the Technique Manual discusses the postures of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, including benefits, contraindication, posture adaptations and modern biomechanics. Also, we will review Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, focusing on the third and fourth chapters. We round out our philosophy studies with discourses on the Bhagavad Gita. This study results in a well-rounded professional yoga expert, a full-spectrum yoga teacher, who is qualified to bring positive change into their students’ body, mind and spirit.
